Miracle Dog: How Quentin Survived the Gas Chamber to Speak for Animals on Death Row - by Randy Grim with forward by Jane Goodall

If you have not seen Quentin and Randy on the Animal Planet, National Geographic, People magazine, The Today Show, PAX Television, The Advocate, Forbes, or NBC's John Walsh show then you'll want to order a copy of this book today and tell your friends about it.

This book will open the eyes and the hearts of animal lovers, humanitarians, and ordinary people in all walks of life. Surrendered to a local animal shelter by his former owners, Quentin, a Basenji mix, was sentenced to die in an antiquated gas chamber. But when the operator in charge opened the door to remove the carcasses, there was Quentin standing atop a heap of dead dogs. How Randy Grim came to adopt Quentin and go on to travel first class to New York and Hollywood with this incredible dog is story that is both poignant and humorous.

Randy Grim is no stranger to animal lovers, since he was the subject of the acclaimed book The Man Who Talks to Dogs, but this is the first book he has written himself. Randy is president and founder of Stray Rescue of St. Louis and has saved thousands of feral dogs from the streets of St. Louis. Randy is a shy person with many phobias who is only in his element when surrounded by the dogs he has rescued or fostered. Quentin on the other hand is a born extrovert who now is fulfilling a mission of speaking out for all animals who are abandoned by their humans or born homeless. Randy Grim was recently honored with the 1st Annual Guardian Award presented by Elliot M. Katz, DVM - president of In Defense of Animals.

Miracle Dog is a mesmerizing and inspirational story of a remarkable dog who adopts an equally remarkable man. The book gives a straightforward and compelling description of the challenges and opportunities in providing help for unwanted and abandoned animals.

Where Dogs are Royalty - Cambria Shores Inn

Genevieve and I recently had the pleasure of a delightful stay at the Cambria Shores Inn in the fairy tale village of Cambria, CA. A lodge that welcomes dogs with a special basket and is situated across the road from the Pacific Ocean is indeed a unique find. Nearly all of the guests in this 24-room lodge had at least one well-behaved dog. The photo shows Genevieve on the front lawn where we enjoyed our breakfast in a basket, which is delivered each morning to your door. The grounds are spacious, carefully manicured, and inviting for both dogs and there people. The rooms are cheerful and comfortable with amenities such as microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, etc. Most of the rooms have an ocean view and all have king or queen size beds - with a special covering if your dog wants to sleep on the bed with you.

Cambria Shores Inn has an extremely friendly staff catering to every guest's comfort. Upon checkout they even photograph your dog for their scrap book and then send you a copy of the photo in the mail. Needless to say it's very important to have advance reservations, since this B&B is always full while others on the same stretch have vacancy signs. We give this accommodation a 5 bones rating.

There is a sprawling boardwalk overlooking the beach where dogs on leash may accompany there companions. (The beach itself does not permit dogs). There are two restaurants within a few hundred yards of Cambria Shores - we ate dinner at the fabulous Sea Chest, rated one of the top 10 seafood places in California. Read More.
